Why Bridge Carson is autistic

Just did a rewatch on SPD and suddenly I really see him as an autistic coded character.

He is answering questions literally and doesn't realize what's relevant (like the time he explained to Jack and Z what they are going to do with them with a lot of details or like the time when he needed to explain what happened at the mission to Cruger). He is also asking long drawn questions.

He is not understanding the concept of personal space (he stalked Z to see what she was reading and ate at her ear)

He is a comfort food (butter toast, he improved his computer to make him toasts)

He stims (moving his fingers)

He doesn't understand sarcasm (when Syd asked if she can do subscription to his computer magazine)

He has things for younger kids and he is not understanding why it's weird (like his bath book)

Not understanding social cues (Jack was needed to tell him it's rude to sniff around people and their dogs)

He was needing an actual book to do a metaphor on not judging a book by its cover.

He notice smalll details others don't gave attention to them (like in the bank robber case or when he figured out the alien is looking S.O.P.H.I.E)

His sensors are more sensitive and active (like using smells to solve the bank mystery)

Jack actually said he don't understand why Bridge do some things and his way of thinking.

He corrects the others if they are mistaken.

Sensory overload (he said barks hurt his ears, he might have been joking, but it still could be relevant)

If he misses something (like a number at counting) he prefer to start over.

He has a special way to think and focus on things (doing a handstand)

Bridge sometimes talk too much so people can't stand it (he used it in an interrogation until the alien agreed to talk because he couldn't listened to Bridge anymore)

Sooooo between 2004-2010, Power Rangers used to have these annuals, with mini Power Rangers comic strips. I did some research and they’re super hard to find, so I’m compiling and posting all those that i found over the next few days. “Cereal is soup.” for the SPD Squad please? (I figured maybe Bridge starts it)

"Cereal is soup."

"Absolutely not!" Jack argued with Bridge, who woke up this morning ready to start a fight, apparently. The two were standing in the common room, both in their pajamas. Jack had a bowl of cereal, that cause of this stupid argument.

Bridge, with a mouthful of buttery toast, replied in a much calmer tone than Jack had, "But it is. You eat it in a bowl, with a spoon, just like soup."

A long groan left Jack, who had been having this discussion for ten minutes already. "That doesn't make it a soup! Soups are hot!"

As he said that, the girls wandered in, Z raising an eyebrow at her long time friend. Sydney looked at Bridge, saying, "No, Bridge, cereal is not a soup." She then proceeded to get her own breakfast, ignoring Bridge's exasperated stare.

"Cereal is a soup, though," Z spoke up, earning a glare from Jack. "Soups can be cold, some use milk in the broth, and, like cereal, it can be eaten at any time of the day."

"Ew! You'd eat soup for breakfast?" Sydney cried, eyes widening at her roommate. Disgusting! That's as bad as eating pizza for breakfast!"

"Cold pizza is a breakfast food!" Jack, Z, and Bridge all exclaimed at the same time.

"Alright, Bridge," Jack said, sighing dramatically. "I'll give it to you - cereal could be classified as a soup - but it doesn't mean I have to like it!"

"Like what?" Sky asked, appearing in the doorway, already dressed and ready for the day.

"Sky! Perfect!" Bridge called out, running up to his roommate. He handed Sky a piece of toast, which the blue surprisingly took willingly, and asked, "Is cereal a soup?"

Sky handed the piece of toast back to Bridge and walked out of the room. He didn't return for breakfast.

SPD OT5 playlist!

This one's a little different: because there's not just one one-shot for them and instead a sort of miniseries within the big series, I decided to just put together all the songs for their fics in one place. It ended up being not that much longer than the other playlists because I can't find my notes for the original SPD fic, so I just have the songs I literally indicated in the fics themselves, plus one or two additions that fit the VibesTM.

Anyway, say hi to the SPD OT5, who just like Jayden/Antonio, you cannot convince me wasn't canon in the original story. Like, have you SEEN the SWAT arc? The sleepovers? The fact that the entire series' backbone is their growing relationship with each other? S.P.D. more than any other series feels like a story about the relationship of the team, the underdogs against the world, and clearly that bled into my inspiration at the time as S.P.D. got like eleven fics and 42k+ words total? INCLUDING a couple of spin-offs involving their daughter and Dani Rocca (Chip/Xander/Vida's daughter) joining the team?

Anyway, I'm going to link the miniseries here instead of the one-shot fic for those exact reasons.

Syd: Who’s the last women you’ve ever spoken to? Beside your mom. You’re like Sky but worse. At least he made fun of all of us and we do the same to him. You just target your pink ranger and she just takes it. If I was her, I wouldn’t want to be near you.

Vida: You said that to her..? What’s wrong with you? That’s your teammate and friend, if she even considers you a friend. Our red ranger did that to our blue ranger and I made him take his word back. Who cares if she’s into ghosts and creepy stuff. She’s more than just that, how about you leave her alone or I’ll rearrange your ribs if I hear you smack talk her again

This was ridiculous.

As as a S.P.D. officer Sky has seen more than his fair share of ridiculous and this still topped the list. Was he? One of the best cadet in the whole force? the second in command for B squad? the blue ranger was getting a silent treatment!?

THIS IS INFACT VERY FU- BLOODY RIDICULOUS.

Z looks from the book she was reading, her eyes spelling out a 'you bet your ass I am' with a simple gaze before going back to reading.

Did he say this is ridiculous?

"Atleast tell me why?"

No answer. Oh why was he even trying!? The woman was more stubborn than her sworn brother and Jack was a whole different league of stubborn in himself.

He groans sluming down beside her on the couch, after a long ass training session he wasn't really expecting this. He sighs, his eyes narrowing at the ceiling as tried to think where did he mess up.

Was it her birthday? Not for another month. Their anniversary? Uh, definitely not for few more months. Did he promise her something? He doesn't thi- his eyes widen as his own words come to him.

"Okay okay, I promise we will go out tomorrow happy?"

Sky crused himself in three different languages in knew, he were supposed to take her out last night but he called in for something and bailed out with that promise and then well this morning he forgot and went about his routine.

"I am sorry Z I know I promi-" His words were cut off with a intended slam of the book that she closed and looked his way with a dangerously calm face before getting up with a smile and walking over to Syd who just entered the common room.

"Dude you screwed up."

He looked behind himself to find Jack sipping at his coffee with a smug look, the red ranger was definitely enjoying his misery.

How comforting.
